报告摘要:

Click chemistry has established itself as one of the defining chemical concepts of last decade and by now several reactions meet the stringent requirements set by Sharpless, Finn and Kolb in their seminal 2001 paper. The copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) remains the most popular owing to its versatility. In this talk I will present our current understanding of the mechanism of this reaction with emphasis on ways to optimize product yield and purity. Then I will share my current research on using click-chemistry concepts in covalently functionalizing MoS2 hybrid nano-materials.

报告人简介:

STAN is an assistant professor of Science (Chemistry) at Yale-NUS College in Singapore, where he leads a research group of mostly undergraduates in designing, preparing and deploying photoactive molecules and hybrid materials. He obtained a BA in physics and chemistry from Colby College, Maine, USA working on non-nitrogenous carbine precursors under the tutelage of Prof. Dasan Thamattoor, received a PhD from The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) in California for his studies on the mechanism of the CuAAC click-reaction in the group of Prof. M.G. Finn, and did post-doctoral studies on supramolecular porphyrin assemblies at the Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e), The Netherlands in E.W. Meijer’s lab, as well as on nano materials with Martin Pumera at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
