The first international Symposium on Water-Energy Nexus was successfully held in our school

 Sponsored by Chair Professor Jiang Benji (Taiwan University) and Professor Ye Deqi from South China University of Technology, the first InternationalSymposium on Water-Energy Nexus was successfully held by School of Environment and Energy onDecember 29thto30th, 2017.The meeting attracted more than 20 scholars, teachers and students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Tongji University, Dalian University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Beijing Normal University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, Taiwan University, Seoul University, Institute of Urban Environment of CAS and other prestigious institutions, at the same time, more than 30 teachers and students from our school attended the meeting. There were 28 presentations in total at this symposium, and one Water-Energy Nexus writing special seminar, which were supported by KeAi company, publisher of Water-energy Nexus, and Avary Holding (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd..

 The international symposium on Water-Energy Nexus is a conference with the same name as Water-Energy Nexus Journal, discussing the two major aspects -- the conversion technology of environment and environmental integrated management, including: advanced energy-saving technology of water-saving and recycling  ; renewable energy practices in sewage treatment station; natural systemic engineering of water management in large cities: theory, design, monitoring and evaluation; using green infrastructure and natural systemic engineering to reduce urban water and energy vulnerability and other important issues.Among them, Qu Jiuhui, academician from Tsinghua University, combined with the theory and technology of water treatment and synchronous production, gave a wonderful demonstration of the controllable conversion of the energy in the process of heavy metal redox, and introduced the prospect of the environmental applications of new technologies such as biology, material and self-assembly.

 More than 10 well-known experts and scholars, gave a wonderful lecture from different aspects of the theme about the connection, development and management for water treatment and energy in cities and industrial environment.The teams from Beijing Normal University, Seoul University and Taiwan University were awarded the top three in their oral presentations.During the meeting, Professor Hyunook Kim from Seoul University, chief editor of Water-Energy Nexus Journal, conducted a topic lecture on “How to publish an excellent journal article” in conjunction with the purpose of the publication.

 Experts at present spoke highly of the meeting, showed great confidence in development of this intersection field, and encouraged numerous teaching and research personnel, especially young scholars, to keep making progress to be the core force of environmental and energy technology development. They also hoped to take this opportunity to build an academic exchange platform for energy, water environment and ecology, lead the world in the field of environmental science research and application, and promote recycling economy and clean economy to a higher level development.
