In order to implement the requirements from the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and the University on laboratory safety, ensure that the laboratory safety management system is put into practice, and effectively build a solid campus safety defense line, the School of Environment and Energy conducted a spring laboratory safety inspection in the morning of February 27nd, 2023, and held the first laboratory safety work group meeting in 2023 before the inspection. The School leadership team members and all safety working group members participated in the group meeting.

At the meeting, Chen Yan, Vice President of the School who is in charge of safety work, briefly reviewed the overall safety work of the School in 2022 to the members of the safety working group and introduced the next key work of the School in terms of safety, with the revision of safety management rules, the construction of ventilation equipment, and the implementation of monthly safety inspection as the three main aspects.

He Jianhua, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, emphasized that it is necessary to firmly establish safety awareness, remain firm in pursuing safety and development, improve the safety management system, press the responsibility at all levels, and build a solid safety bottom line.

After the meeting, a safety inspection was carried out and the inspection team focused on the safety of dangerous chemicals, safety of gas, fire protection, the use of electricity and waste in the laboratory.

Next, in view of the laboratory safety inspection work, through self-correction, on-site inspection, School-wide notice, hidden danger rectification, and closed-loop reexamination, etc., the School will carry out in-depth investigation into the hidden dangers in the lab, strengthen prevention and control of safety risks and step up efforts in rectification of the hidden dangers, so as to improve the laboratory safety management level in the School.
