From July 12th to 14th, the school successfully held the 2023 National Excellent College Students Summer Camp. A total of 636 students registered for this summer camp. After preliminary selection, 77 outstanding undergraduate students from well-known universities such as Dalian University of Technology, Chongqing University, Jilin University, China Agricultural University, Northeastern University, Minzu University of China, and Sichuan University participated in the camp. The activities mainly included interviews, interactive presentations, visits and learning. Deans and Secretaries, faculty members, and graduate volunteers from the school participated in the camp. Through selection, 74 undergraduate students were selected as outstanding campers of this summer camp.

The opening ceremony was held in Room 215 of the Environmental Building on the afternoon of July 12th, marking the beginning of the summer camp. The Secretary of the School Party Committee, Mr. He Jianhua, the Executive Vice Dean, Professor Zhu Nengwu, the Vice Dean, Professor Hu Yun, and representatives of supervisors from various teaching and research institutes of the school, as well as office personnel, attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Professor Hu Yun, and Professor Zhu Nengwu, as the representative of the school, presented the camp flag. Professor Hu Yun gave a detailed introduction to the development of the school. Later, the campers attended academic lectures and had face-to-face communications with representatives of supervisors from 9 teaching and research institutes. In the morning on July 13th, the campers visited various scientific research platforms of the school to further understand the discipline construction and research environments in the school. In the afternoon, the campers had group discussions and comprehensive interviews and English assessments. In the evening, the school organized a social event for the campers, allowing them to interact and communicate with graduate students in the school. In the morning of July 14th, the campers attented wonderful presentations by Professor Wang Shuxiao from Tsinghua University and Professor Zhang Zhicheng from South China University of Technology, two academic giants, and learned about the techniques for publishing academic papers in the top journal ES&T. The closing ceremony of the summer camp was held in Room 215 of the Environmental Building at noon on July 14th. During the ceremony, Professor Hu Yun summarized the activities. Outstanding camper representatives delivered a speech. Professor Zhu Nengwu presented certificates to the outstanding campers. Thus, the summer camp activities came to a successful conclusion.

The school office party branch and all party members actively participated in the organization and service of the summer camp. The hosting of this summer camp effectively promoted the communication among outstanding college students majoring in environmental and energy-related disciplines from universities across the country. At the same time, the campers gained a deeper understanding of the School of Environment and Energy at South China University of Technology, laying a solid foundation for their future study as graduate students at the school.
