On July 28, the 11th National Creative Competition, jointly organized by Esquel Group and major universities across the country, held its final in Gaoming, Foshan. This competition attracted more than 1,400 projects. After audition, the preliminary and school final contests, 10 teams successfully advanced to the national final contests. The finals showcased 10 groups of participating projects focusing on intelligent supply chains, product innovation, low-carbon environmental protection, and brand marketing. The student team from the School of Environment and Energy at South China University of Technology won unanimous praise from the judges with their project "A Value-added Strategy for Practical Nitrate Wastewater," and won the only special award in the national finals with the first overall score!

The project was supervised by Professor Chen Yan, the Vice Dean of the School of Environment and Energy. The team members included students from all levels of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in the School of Environment and Energy. The project focuses on electrochemical technology to achieve wastewater conversion to value-added products, fully supporting the national "dual-carbon" strategy. The project received multidimensional support from the School of Environment and Energy and had previously won the Guangdong Province Gold Award in the 18th "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Work Competition, and was recommended to enter the national competition. It also won the gold award in the 9th China International "Internet+" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition South China University of Technology Finals.

It is worth noting that Kuangbo Venture Capital, which has rich investment experience and has successfully invested in dozens of innovative entrepreneurial companies, also attended and paid special attention to projects with high entrepreneurial potential and planned to provide strategic investment for helping innovative entrepreneurial projects grow rapidly and incubate successfully. For the five creative projects in the finals that have clear novelty,  technological goals, broad market prospects, and high expected market acceptance, Kuangbo Venture Capital specifically awarded them the "Most Entrepreneurial Potential Award". While winning the special award in the finals, the student team from the School of Environment and Energy was also awarded the "Most Entrepreneurial Potential Award".

Since the start of the "Esquel National Creative Competition" in 2013, it has attracted nearly 30,000 participants and nearly 15,000 creative works, covering various fields such as technology and sustainable development. The "Esquel National Creative Competition" is not only a competition of wisdom and a showcase of innovation ability but also a platform for young innovative talents to exchange ideas. The School of Environment and Energy attaches great importance to student innovation and entrepreneurship work, actively encourages student innovation and technology development, builds a teacher-student innovation and entrepreneurship exchange platform through the "Energy Gathering" luncheon, and holds various types of innovation and entrepreneurship competitions to enhance student participation and constantly achieve new breakthroughs in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.
