Guests of Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) , such as Ms Lv Jingyi, senior vice president of ICES (China), and Mr Yu Lizuo, vice president of ICES (HK), visited SCET for cooperation and provided a good speech for faculty and students on May 19, 2015.

ICES-SCET Cooperation Symposium
ICES and SCET exchanged their own opinions on scientific research and students' professional training, and reached an agreement of cooperation. A student-oriented organization of ICES was hoped to be founded at SCUT, thus setting a starting point of all-round cooperation of the two sides. By doing so, SCUT students would be more accessible to the elite of the industry, the trends in engineering careers, and relevant programs at home and abroad.

The guests introduced some information of ICES, RICS and other professional bodies that accredit professionals within the civil engineering sectors worldwide. They said that ICES membership meant qualification of professional skills and ethics recognized by international standards. ICES members would have more chance of undertaking, bids or management in engineering projects across the world.
Ms Lv reminded students to make career plans as soon as possible, move forward in the study of knowledge, pay more attention to international projects, and try to join ICE/ICES or RICS and be their members or senior members. (Photos/ News Wu Fan Wu Jianling, SCET)
