Program Aims

This major lays emphasis on high moral value establishment and people training, aims to cultivate high-quality professionals who love their motherland, develop all-roundly in morality, intelligence physique and aesthetics, adapt to the progresses of modern society, science and technology and economy, have solid and broad basic theories and professional knowledge in mechanics, possess outstanding innovative practice ability, international vision, cross-cultural communication skills. The graduates can engage in basic scientific research, high technology development or higher education in the fields of mechanics, aerospace, transportation, civil engineering, advanced materials and other related engineering fields. Some excellent graduates can become high-level and compound outstanding talents in these fields.

Program Features

This major adopt Bachelor-Master-Doctor integrated training mode, strengthen the basic knowledge on mathematics and mechanics; combined with the industry background of transportation and aerospace, realize wide-caliber cultivation and provide engineering practice platform for students; carry out undergraduate tutorial system and guide students to participate in innovative research; strengthen international communication and expand students' international vision.

“Second Classroom” Activities

“Second Classroom” Activities are comprised of two parts, Humanities Quality Education and Innovative Ability Cultivation.

1)Basic Requirements of Humanities Quality Education

Besides gaining course credits listed in one’s subject teaching curriculum, a student is required to participate in extracurricular activities of Humanities Quality Education based on one’s interest, acquiring no less than two credits.

2)Basic Requirements of Innovative Ability Cultivation

Besides gaining course credits listed in one’s subject teaching curriculum, a student is required to participate in any one of the following activities: National Undergraduate Training Programs for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Guangdong Undergraduate Training Programs for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Student Research Program (SRP), One-hundred-steps Innovative Program, or any other extracurricular activities of Innovative Ability Cultivation that last a certain period of time (e.g. subject contests, academic lectures), acquiring no less than four credits.
