Recently, Mr. Shaowei Zhang, a 2019 graduate student from the Department of Road Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, received the 2021 “He Jingtang Science and Technology Innovation Award”. This is the first time that the student from our department has been awarded this honor, which is one of the highest honors for individual graduate students of South China University of Technology).
He Jingtang Science and Technology Innovation Award, which was funded by the He Jingtang Academician Foundation, provides the highest level of award in all the scholarships of the South China University of Technology (i.e. RMB 20,000 for undergraduate student, RMB 30,000 for master's student, and RMB 50,000 for PhD candidate). The candidate is selected from the owners of the National Scholarship for Graduate Students. This award is to honor the outstanding students who have excellent academic achievements and have an ability of conducting scientific and technological innovation. In 2021, only two master students have been awarded the “He Jingtang Science and Technology Innovation Award”.
Mr. Shaowei Zhang has conducted the research of developing the low-carbon road engineering materials and their performance evaluation, under the supervision of Prof. Duanyi Wang and Associate Prof. Huayang Yu. He has participated in one research project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and another research project funded by the companies. He has published 5 SCI papers in high impacted journals, such as the Journal of Cleaner Production (IF=9.297, Q1), Construction and Building Materials (IF=6.141, Q1). In addition, he has published one conference paper at the WTC 2021 and was invited to deliver an oral presentation on his research during the conference. It was awarded the Excellent Paper of WTC2021 (Top 5% ).
