On April 16th, 2021, the 2017 graduation internship of Construction Management was carried out to explore the industry development frontier in the field of intelligent construction and urban renewal respectively in the key construction project of Guangdong Province “Three museums in one” project and Agile Urban renewal project. The specific contents include:
1. Smart construction site, BIM technology learning, and experience of Guangdong Three museums in one project.
2. Design, construction, and regional development practice of Agile Urban Renewal project.

1. Smart construction site and BIM technology learning and experience
The “Three museums in one” project of Guangdong Museum of Literature, Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Center, and Guangdong Museum of Contemporary Art is positioned as a major landmark public cultural facilities with Guangdong characteristics and international standards, as well as modern cultural exhibition groups that are internationally renowned, first-class in Asia and leading in China. This project adopts a series of cutting-edge technologies and methods of intelligent construction and also builds an intelligent construction experience hall, safety experience hall, and quality experience hall, which provides a teaching practice platform for engineering management graduates to understand deeply.

1.1 Intelligent construction experience hall
Based on the site information management platform of intelligent IoT, the project builds an intelligent construction management platform, including BIM, IoT, management, think tank, and supply chain. Through the application of new technologies such as the Internet of Things and big data, new achievements such as information integration and intelligent linkage are unlocked, traditional building management methods are innovated, and more convenient, accurate, and efficient construction operation management efficiency is expanded.

Students learned about BIM forward design platform, 3D printing equipment, AI artificial intelligence, 3D interactive disclosure, UAV cruise, Internet of Things monitoring, and other intelligent construction projects in the Intelligent Construction Experience Hall.

Smart site application mainly relies on smart IoT management platform to carry out smart construction application. Meanwhile, relying on the smart site management platform of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, the smart site management system is simultaneously developed in cooperation with Guangzhou Housing and Urban-rural Construction Department and Administration of Agent Construction Project in Guangdong Province.

1.2 Safety Experience Hall
Next, students learned digital fire-fighting, 2D code technology disclosure, VR safety experience, wall dumping experience, intelligent health station, falling experience, and other contents in the safety experience hall. Through online knowledge disclosure, fire-fighting games, animation teaching, VR virtual cockpit, and other information teaching methods, I deeply feel the necessity of construction safety.

1.3 Quality Experience Hall
In the quality experience hall, students saw the main structure, basement, staircase standard model, also saw the water supply and drainage, electrical appliances, HVAC professional model. These samples are very standard, and we have learned a lot of quality standards.

2. Urban renewal and learning
The internship project is the Reconstruction project of Jitang old village, located in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, which is the main part of the urban renewal project of Huangpu Dasha District. Urban renewal refers to the renewal activities of comprehensive renovation, improvement, preservation, maintenance or demolition and reconstruction for a certain declining area (including the old residential area, urban village, old industrial area, and old commercial area, etc.) in a specific city according to urban planning and prescribed procedures.
Through field visits and introductions by designers and engineers, students of the graduating class learned about the design, construction, and regional development practices of urban renewal.
After the internship, the students of the project management class believed that the urban renewal project is the key direction of the current urban development. There will be more than 300 villages in Guangzhou to start the renovation work, so they need to fully learn the knowledge of urban renewal and engineering construction management.

Appendix: Introduction of Three museums in one project
Guangdong Art Museum, Guangdong Intangible Heritage Exhibition Center, and Guangdong Museum of Literature are the new landmarks of Lingnan culture in the future. The project covers an area of 75787 square meters with a total investment of 2.59 billion yuan. The total construction area is 144,500 square meters, including 65,140 square meters of Guangdong Art Museum (including Guangdong Contemporary Art Museum), 26,000 square meters of Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Center, 17,330 square meters of Guangdong Museum of Literature, and other ancillary facilities.
Environmental effect of Three museums in one project
The project is located in Baietan Industrial Financial Service Innovation Zone, Liwan District, Guangzhou, acrossing the river from Shamian Island and Xiguan Historic District in Guangzhou. According to the planning of the core starting area of White Goose Pond, a multi-level outdoor public art space will be created with a waterfront opening. Modern materials and construction technology to adapt to the Lingnan regional climate, with the organic integration of regional, cultural and contemporary characteristics to create rich cultural images and elegant artistic taste of the new landmark of the south of Guangdong, new name card of Guangzhou.
The general contractor of the project is The South China Branch of CCTEB, which is the undergraduate teaching and practice base of our university.
