During the summer vacation of this year, the Engineering Mechanics Innovation Class of Grade 2020 and Grade 2021 of our college visited two universities for research and exchange activities led by teachers Yang Bao and Zhou Licheng, who aimed to provide a valuable learning opportunity for students. Through visiting and exchange in Hong Kong universities, teachers and students can benefit a lot, not only broaden their horizons, but also increase their knowledge.

On the morning of July 18, the students first went to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Under the guidance of the teachers of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, they visited the Fashion and Textile Laboratory, the fluid mechanics Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics laboratory of the AIR LAB.
In the Fashion and textile laboratory, the students learned about the research and application of textile technology and fabric materials, listened to the teacher's introduction of how to apply biomechanics to advanced textile technology, enjoyed some exquisite fashion works up close, and felt the perfect integration of fashion art, science and technology.

The fluid mechanics Laboratory of the university is equipped with advanced water tunnel experimental equipment for the study of turbulence problems in fluid mechanics. Through interchanging ideas with laboratory researchers, students had a deep understanding of the application of fluid mechanics in the field of engineering, as well as its importance in aircraft, automobiles and energy, and cutting-edge basic research in the field of mechanical engineering.

In the AIR laboratory, the dazzling array of advanced precision equipment and instruments, and advanced intelligent robots stimulated the students' strong curiosity. They further understood the wide application and development prospects of artificial intelligence and robot technology in daily life and industrial fields.

The students also visited PolyU Design Exhibition 2023, which is currently on display. The excellent graduation projects made students deeply feel the colorful extracurricular life and strong cultural atmosphere of this university. All kinds of wonderful designs emerged one after another, and everyone was amazed by the creativity and talent of students.
After the visit to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, everyone went to the City University of Hong Kong to visit and study. The teachers and students learned about the historical development of the school, the training model of students, the main research fields and achievements of the Department of Civil engineering. Then, they visited various laboratories of the department of Civil engineering under the guidance of the teachers, including the strength testing laboratory of civil engineering materials, geotechnical laboratory, environmental laboratory and structural design laboratory. The experience of visiting CityU Laboratories made everyone deeply feel the excellent research results and innovative power of the Department of Civil Engineering of the City University of Hong Kong, and also stimulated everyone's enthusiasm for scientific research and innovation.

Through this research visit and exchange activity, the students experienced the international atmosphere of Hong Kong, and had a deeper understanding of the excellent quality of Hong Kong's higher education and the forefront of academic research. It is hoped that this visit will further stimulate students' desire for knowledge and enthusiasm for learning, and encourage more students to establish a life goal of devoting themselves to scientific research.
