On September 16, 2024, Stanford University and Elsevier Data Repository released the “Stanford University Top 2% Scientists List 2024”, categorized into the Lifetime Scientific Influence List (career-long impact) and the Annual Scientific Influence List (current-year achievements). Three civil engineering faculty members—Bo Wu, Shaoli Chen, and Jianying Wu—were consecutively listed in the lifetime category. Ten faculty members (Bo Wu, Shaoli Chen, Jianying Wu, Guangming Chen, Xiaohu Yao, Guoru Huang, Zhaoli Wang, Chengguang Lai, Haiyan Zhang, Weitiao Wu) made the annual list, with the first four achieving consecutive selections.

The “World’s Top 2% Scientists List”, jointly developed by Stanford University’s John P. A. Ioannidis team and Elsevier, is available at:

The ranking analyzes Scopus citation data across metrics like citations, H-index, and HM-factor to identify the top 2% of scientists from nearly 7 million candidates, categorized into 22 fields and 176 subfields.
