Mathematical Experiment Center, founded in 1985, has been named the Mathematical Laboratory, Application Software Room, in 2002 officially changed its name to Mathematical Experiment Center. Mathematics Experiment Center has 9 laboratories, including the math labs, information and statistical analysis laboratories, mathematical modeling and computing laboratories, engineering mathematics laboratory (engineering mathematics teaching base Lab), software development office, server and workstation computing room, the system detects room etc, utility area of 440m2. There are 5 servers, 5 high-performance workstations, 280 computers and some other laboratory equipment, and installation of several large mathematical software, including SAS and MATLAB. It is an important teaching place for engineering mathematics laboratory and 3 undergraduate professional, including Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computer Science, Information Management and Information. It is also an important base to carry out the training and competition (the United States race, national championships), curriculum design, graduate design, teachers' scientific research, graduate project development, extra-curricular undergraduate research project (SRP), the National Computer Rank Examination.
The Center has a strong, well-structured teaching staff, including 1 Dual-appointed Academician, 1 Distinguished Professor, 12 doctoral tutors, 19 professors, 29 associate professors, 31 lecturers, 1 senior engineer, 1 senior lecturer; 48 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounted for 57.14% of the total number of teachers. There are 810 full-time undergraduates, 216 postgraduate students for the degree of Master.
In 2008, the center adds 17 research projects, the contract would amount to 2.126 million yuan, of which six national, provincial and ministerial level 3, the actual research is funded 2.45 million yuan. 8 projects apply for a patent, authorized 0. A total of 91 papers have been published, of which eight have been published in the journal Statistical sources, 31 have been published in the core journals, 41 were the three major indexes included. Three textbooks have been published (2 for Master and 1 for Undergraduate).
The center is relying on Mathematical Science of South China University of Technology and the National engineering mathematics teaching base. And the Department has doctorate authorized points of "Applied Mathematics" and an interdisciplinary master's degree authorization of "Mathematics". Meanwhile, "Mathematics and Applied Mathematics", "Information Management and Information System" are famous professional in Guangdong Province, and "Advanced Mathematics" is a Quality Course in Guangdong Province. Through 211 projects, 985 (1-2) phase of the implementation of construction projects, the laboratory conditions and equipment have been greatly improved. Mathematical modeling and mathematical experiment innovative platform has taken shape, and play an important role in the construction of high-level university. With the further deepening of university development, Mathematical Experiment Center will strive to build itself into a high-level university basic disciplines to adapt to an important position, become a domestic leading level of innovative mathematical experiments, mathematical modeling teaching and research base. Further, efforts to play a central model, radiation platform role, train teachers for the experimental teaching of mathematics, promote the province's new change in mathematics teaching model, achieve innovation and development of training mode, make greater contributions to train a large number of high-quality innovative talents for the economic development in Guangdong.
