报告摘要:

The performance of reinforced concrete flexural members strengthened with externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials depends on the bond between FRP and concrete. Moisture, as one of the most common environmental factors, is very important for durability of the bond between FRP and concrete. In this seminar, an experimental, numerical and analytical study of moisture effects on FRP/concrete bond durability will be presented. A modifieddouble cantilever beam (MDCB) test was used to measure the interfacial fracture energy for theCFRP plate debonding from concrete substrate under Mode I loading to evaluate the bond deterioration after specimens were immerged in water for different periods. A simplemethod was developed to directly measure the FRP/concrete interface region relative humidity (IRRH). Finite-element analysis wasperformed to study the moisture diffusion in the FRP-adhesive-concrete system.Based on the experimental results and a moisture diffusion model,a bond mechanism based deterioration model of bond interfacial fracture energy was proposed for FRP-concrete bond joints in moist environments. Using the IRRH as the bridge, the time-dependent load-displacement curves of the MDCBspecimens were obtained numerically. Finally, a cohesive zone model (CZM) ofdebonding along the FRP–concrete interface under peel load was analyticallyestablished by using a linear elastic separation-stress law. Based on the proposed nonlinear deterioration model, the analytical solutionof the CZM was used to determine critical load vs. crack length relations (P-a curves)of MDCB specimens at different moistureexposure durations.


万宝林博士简历:

美国马凯特大学土木、施工与环境工程系副教授(终身教授)。主要从事纤维增强复合材料(FRP)在土木工程领域应用的研究工作。其它研究领域包括桥梁的健康监测和非破损检验,钢筋混凝土和预应力钢筋混凝土,以及结构的数值分析。近年来以第一、二作者发表杂志论文(SCI、EI索引)二十余篇,学术专著一章,国际会议论文二十余篇。负责美国威斯康辛州科研项目6项,美国马凯特大学科研项目3项。参与美国国家自然科学基金项目1项,美国南卡罗来纳州科研项目2项,香港创新科技署项目1项。国际土木工程复合材料协会 (IIFC)理事(Council Member)美国混凝土(ACI)协会复合材料委员会(Committee 440)委员,美国土木工程师协会(ASCE) 会员,美国威斯康辛州高速公路科研计划(WHRP)结构工程监管委员会委员。曾获第三届FRP组合材料在土木工程中应用国际会议(CICE2006)最佳论文奖、美国全国8297至尊品牌游戏官方网站宿舍荣誉协会(NRHH)杰出教授奖(2008)、美国全国8297至尊品牌游戏官方网站宿舍荣誉协会(NRHH)马凯特大学分会教授之星奖(2008)等奖励。
