On August 27, 2023, Prof. Hu Xiangming, doctoral supervisor of Beihang University, was invited to give an academic lecture entitled “The Localization of Public Administration Research in China” in the School of Public Administration.
Professor Hu explained the origin, current situation and development of the localization of public management research in China with three questions: “Why should we raise the issue of the localization of public management research”, “how to realize the localization of public management research” and “some misunderstandings of the localization of public management research in China”. Professor Hu discussed the core issues of the localization of public administration research in China from various aspects. He stressed that localization research needs to pay attention to China's national conditions and actual needs, combined with the characteristics of China's politics, economy, culture and other aspects, to carry out targeted research combining theory and practice. For example, he proposed a demand-oriented public service supply model in response to the supply of public services in China. It provides a new way to improve the quality and efficiency of public service.
With the rapid development of Chinese society and the deepening of public management practice, more and more scholars and experts begin to pay attention to the localization of public management research and carry out a series of studies and explorations. The localization of public management research has become one of the important directions of discipline development.
